Mighty Machines Party

We finally had Camden's 4th birthday party last night two weeks late, but it was just as fun! I made all the decorations again this year(and, along the way, have decided that I would love to be a party planner!) used his toys as decorations and borrowed a few things. We had it at Gamma and Papa's again and we are so glad they have a big house. Lincoln came this year and Camden was so happy to see him. Those boys wore themselves out! It was a fun party!

I love that you can see Dad's feet! He was taking a little siesta before the craziness. 

Someone really wanted the vehicles off the cake! Daddy was telling him no.

Remembering

I am always remembering when my sweet boy was little. I am loving watching him grow up, but a tiny part of me misses him being so little. We always schedule Camden's yearly check-up on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day since Todd and I are both off school. Camden was sad this year when Dr. Jackie told him he had to get shots and wanted to be held. Holding him brought back memories of his first visit to Suburban Pediatrics when he was 2 weeks old. So, I asked Todd to snap a picture with my phone. Then, when we got home, I found this picture and to be honest, it kinda made me tear up. Look at the difference! I am so grateful God has allowed me to be his momma. I am so blessed.

More Sickness

Camden has not been sick much this winter, but wow, this week has been a doozy! We woke up yesterday morning to a 103.7 fever. I knew that on Day 5 of the flu, he should be getting better. I called Dr. Jackie and she wanted to see him.

 Sure enough, he has pneumonia. Poor thing! She prescribed an antibiotic which just happens to be the same color as the Tamiflu(that made him throw up). Yikes! I knew that wasn't going to work, so I added a little red food coloring to make it pink. He still has a huge meltdown over taking it, but this evening, I outsmarted him by mixing it with some chocolate pudding.

I can't tell you how long it has been since he has fallen asleep on one of us.

I can't tell you how thankful I was this morning at 3:00 a.m. to put my hand on his forehead and it felt cool. Praise the Lord! I tried to go back to sleep and just kept thanking God for healing our sweet baby. He has been pretty miserable for almost a week and it has been so hard feeling helpless. When I left his room this morning to go back to bed, I got a glimpse of the true Camden. I said, "Night-night, precious boy." He said, "No call me that. Call me ladybug."Love him!

(He is also thrilled that he no longer has flat poop-that is what he called diarrhea). TMI-I know, but it cracked us up!

A Sick Birthday

Unfortunately, we had to cancel Camden's birthday party for today. I think Mommy was more disappointed than anybody. But he is still running a fever and feeling pretty miserable. Plus, we didn't want anyone else to get sick. He really didn't know his party was today because he has been sick since Thursday and we haven't been talking about it. We weren't going to tell him it was his birthday, because we were afraid he wouldn't understand about his party. But I felt bad, so we went ahead and told him. He kept saying, I'm 4 now? Then, he would tell us I'm the birthday boy! Such a cutie!I told him when he woke up from nap we would have a little party and open his presents. Since I already had his decorations, I decorated and baked a cake.

As soon as he woke up from his nap, the first thing he said was, "I open my presents now?" I didn't even bother fixing his hair. :) After that, we sang Happy Birthday and he blew out his candles. He wanted his triangle party hat. (I can't believe he remembers that thing!)

It wasn't the party we had planned or how we wanted to spend Little Man's 4th birthday, but what do you do when the flu comes uninvited? Hopefully, we can celebrate with everyone when he is feeling better.
Happy 4th birthday, sweet boy! You bring us so much joy and we love you very much!

Flu Magnet

Poor Camden-he has Influenza A AGAIN this year. He was really sick last year and ran a fever for almost a week. Todd stayed at home with him on Thursday and ended up taking him to the doctor. Dr. Murawksi couldn't believe he tested positive again. He said wow, he must be a flu magnet and prescribed Tamiflu, but like last year, Camden threw up when he tried to take it. I tasted it and it is pretty awful stuff! Gramma Becky stayed at home with our boy today and cuddled with him. Here's a look at what I call Influenza Central:

 

 

Triple Trouble

It makes my heart happy to see pictures like these. I am so thankful Todd is enjoying his job at Hillsboro. Todd and 2 of his fellow teachers wore the same shirts on Friday. Now, I don't know how it came about that these pictures were taken-I would love to think that Todd thought of me and how I would love to have a picture, but I doubt it!. But I will confess it made me giddy when Todd showed them to me. I said oh, send those to me and of course, he made some teasing comment about them showing up on the blog. Well, he knows me pretty well!
(I also think it's pretty funny how they are all 3 holding their coffee cups!)

Hawks vs. Blackcats

Ashely and Sarah were appalled that Camden was in Hawk gear, so Becca made him a Blackcat sticker!

Hillsboro played Herky Friday night in basketball and the Medley's were in attendance. We were all dressed in blue and ready to cheer on the Hawks! I did not anticipate having a hard time cheering for the Hawks though. The JV were playing when we arrived and one of my former students, Andres, was playing. How could I not cheer on a former student? Then, it came time for the varsity to play. That was even tougher! I have been a Blackcat for 12 years and it wasn't as easy as I thought to switch to being a Hawk! The Hawks won, but it was a close game and a fun one to watch.

Should I be concerned?...

So, Camden has a "brother" and a "sister" he refers to quite often, even talking to them on the phone. Their names are Harksee and KayKay. Not really sure if these are imaginary as he used to say they live in Minnesota at his new house, but now they live in Missi-city(Mississippi). But I do know he does talk about them alot and this momma finds it a bit odd. One thing is sure though, I do love this sweet boy no matter what! How can you not LOVE this cutie?

 

Fun, Food and Friends

We have celebrated New Year's Eve with the Bates' almost every year since we started dating. So, it has become a tradition that we love! The evening is filled with yummy food, playing games and just relaxing at home (either ours, the Bates' or the other Bates' which are Matt's parents, Richard and Mary. Last night was no exception. We had no plans to stay until midnight with the predicted weather and a three year old. But Camden and Amanda played so well and the weather wasn't bad that we actually didn't leave until after 11. It was a fun night and Todd and I even learned how to play
canasta.

I had to add this picture since it was a joke all night that Renee and I weren't paying attention. :)
