Who really eats snow cones anyway?

We had the bright idea to take the boys for sno cones, but had no idea that the only sno cone place in Festus has shaved ice. Shaved ice melts VERY quickly, so needless to say, Jaden made quite the mess. Good times!

Six Flags

I always get a free ticket to Six Flags every year for the Read to Succeed program. This year, Camden participated and got a free ticket too. So, all we needed was a free ticket for Daddy. Enter Facebook and we were set! The weather was beautiful and we had an awesome day! Camden(and Mommy) was not a fan of the Screaming Eagle. His favorite was the Log Flume which he and Daddy rode twice. We also played for a bit in the water at Hurricane Harbor. We were exhausted, but definitely made the most of our free tickets. I told Todd, "Just think, we get to do this again in 4 years when Jaden is old enough." He just gave me a less than thrilled look.
It's not very nice when your husband laughs at you for getting dizzy on a kiddie ride....

Or when you spend 10 minutes looking and you still can't find the car in the parking lot..
Then, he walks straight to it...Must be that Marine training!

Friends and BoyMoms

I am so lucky to be friends with the girls I work with. Michelle and I took the boys to Tot Time at the new Lemay Park Pavilion. They had so much fun, but wore these mommies out!

Chocolate, Chocolate, Chocolate

Yesterday, we toured the Chocolate, CHocolate, Chocolate factory with Nick and Emmy and had some yummy Gus' pretzels. When it came my turn to get a sample, I said, "NO, thank you. I don't like chocolate. The lady in charge of the tour looked at me as if she didn't believe me and said, "They let you in here?"

"Bible School and the Blueberry"

Lincoln invited Camden to attend Vacation Bible School with him at First Baptist Church in Desoto this week. These two are such goofballs and have SO much fun together. I dropped them off the first day, but Camden insisted he wanted to ride the Blueberry to Lincoln's house every day. The Blueberry is a big blue and white bus named Madame Blueberry like in Veggie Tales. So, I gave in and let him. (Now, I did meet the bus driver while dropping the boys off and felt very comfortable with him which helped.) I was so impressed with how organized it was and how much fun Camden had. He learned so much and loved "Bible School" as he called it.

Sweet boy

Mrs. Huskey was subbing for Ms. Unger the same week Mommy subbed in kindergarted for summer school. She sent me this picture of you at nap time. I LOVE pictures of my boys sleeping.

PS This blanket and pillow was made for Nick when he was in preschool and is now yours and will be Jadens as well. I love using things that all the cousins have shared.

Bonfire

A bonfire and s'mores in July? Yep, we sure did. The weather has been unseasonably cool this week. Tonight, Todd texted me while I was doing nursery at church and said they would really like to make s'mores, but didn't have any wood for the fire pit. Mommy to the rescue! I found firewood at Mobil on the Run and stopped at Dollar General to get marshmellows, chocolate and graham crackers. Camden was thrilled! So, we enjoyed some yummy s'mores on a Saturday night in July!

Summer School

So, I am not going to lie. I was not at all excited to teach summer school this year, but I knew we could use the money for adoption expenses. And I was especially apprehensive when I saw Paint-A-Palooza next to my name for the afternoon fun classes. When I opened the boxes and saw all these 35 bottles of tempera paint, my Type A personality just about fainted. I had visions of my neat classroom covered in paint....
Well, today I am halfway done with summer school and it hasn't been that bad. I can honestly say, at times, it has been fun. Here are some of my creations from afternoon Paint-A-Palooza:

We've been flocked!

We came home from the lake on Sunday to find a flock of flamingoes in our front yard. It was a hoot! Camden couldn't get out of the car fast enough. The flamingoes are a fundraiser for the Senn-Thomas volleyball team and we had been flocked by Macy and Sherry Pope. Camden was a bit disappointed that there weren't flamingoes inside too. I posted it on Facebook and Bates' commented that he likes how Todd was trying to figure out a defensive scheme to keep the flamingoes from scoring!

Lake Weekend

We spent a very relaxing weekend at the lake with some Hillsboro friends of Todd's. To be honest, I was not that hip on going due to the predicted bad weather on Friday night, but "we" decided to brave it. Mom kept us updated on the watches and warnings via texting on our way there. I came pretty close to having a full-on panic attack while we were driving through the heaviest rain I have ever seen for about ten minutes(and I just about gnawed my lip off), but, like usual, Todd took it all in stride  (my Mr. Calm, Cool and Collected). Once we got there, the rain stopped and then weather was beautiful on Saturday. The kids insisted on swimming, so we tried it. They lastly less than five minutes-the lake water was just too cold. It was such a good time with no schedule and nothing to worry about-just hanging out, playing and talking. The view from their deck was just amazing and so peaceful. I am very glad "we" decided to go!
