Flowers for Mommy

Camden,
You just melt my heart sometimes. This morning, you wanted to go outside before we left for school. You came back in carrying these "flowers" and said, "Mom, theses are for you." Wow-who knew I could be so touched by a few simple weeds? Son, I hope you always have such a sweet spirit about you. I love you!

Light "Saver"

Camden is very into Stars Wars right now. He loves playing Angry Birds Star Wars on my phone. We got the Star Wars DVDs from the library and he can name just about every character. Although the clones sounds more like crumbs. :) When we "play" Star Wars, he is Luke Skywalker(sometimes Hans Solo), Daddy is Chewbacca and Mommy is Princess Layla(Leia).
For a few weeks, he has been having trouble staying in bed after we did the routine and tucked him in bed. He woud ask for a drink, need a Kleenex for a booger (ew), ask us to pray for no ghosts again, etc...
He also had been asking for a light saber(saver). So, the teacher in me decided an incentive chart was the perfect solution. He had to earn stars by staying in bed to get a light saber. I made this chart and we got some stickers from Aunt Beth. Now, in the meantime, we just happened to be up at Aunt Beth's and Nick had a old light saber that Camden loved. So, Nick, ever the salesman, offered to sell us his light saber-as a discount of course. This is so Nick! It was great-we got a light saber for cheap and Nick made some money. We told Nick that we would have to come shopping with him again next time.
It only took Camden 7 nights to get his five stars! Now, hopefully, staying in bed will continue without the incentive...

Officially waiting

I turned in our profile copies to the adoption agency this week, so now we are officially a waiting family. I have many mixed emotions about our second adoption. We had an incredible experience with Camden's adoption and I pray that this second experience will be just as amazing. We would love for our little family of 3 to become a family of 4!

Ice Cream Goodness

Grandma and Papa came down last night and we headed to get one of our favorite summer treats: ice cream from Rich's Frozen Custard. How cute are these two enjoying their ice cream?

Frogs, Snails, and Puppy Dog Tails....and Worms...and Roly Polies

Camden is very into insects right now. He loves catching roly polies on the playground at school and at home. He also finds "caterpillars", which are actually bagworms. and just the other night after the rain, he came up to me holding a worm. And anyone who knows me, knows I am not the bug/creature sort, so this is a new experience for me. I never thought I would be searching for and catching roly-polies, but the smiles on my sweet son's face are so worth it!

Very Cool School

We visited Aunt Mickie at her new school this week. Camden told me as we walked in, "This is a very cool school!" He was excited to see Aunt Mickie. She showed him their chickens, but his very favorite was the library! He found some David Michael books and enjoyed climbing all over their gathering area. He liked looking at all the exhibits-his favorite was probably the sign language one. He did want his picture with the superhero though.
I had to include this last picture because Camden so innocently asked, "Mom, is this Jesus?" Sometimes, a laugh just sneaks out before I can help it!

Preschool Program

Last night was Camden's preschool program and boy, was he in rare form! He was very hyper, even Gramma Becky commented on how crazy he was. Thank goodness, he was well behaved on the stage during the awards and for their song, which was absolutely adorable! Ms. Sue's class sang I Am a Promise. They sang their little hearts out. Camden received the Most Sincere Award from Ms. Sue. He and Xavier had fun as you can see at the reception afterward. We have been so blessed to have Ms. Sue as Camden's teacher this year and love her very much!

Happy Mudder's Day

As a little girl, I remember going with my Dad to McDonald's on Mother's Day, so Mom wouldn't have to cook breakfast before church. Eating fast food was a special treat for our little family. I remember telling Todd about how we did this and he decided last year that we would continue this with our family. And of course, this momma didn't mind at all!
Later after church and nap, we headed up to Mom and Dad's for barbeque. We relaxed, tried some hula-hooping, rode the go-cart, played with "caterpillars" and enjoyed some yummy dirt cake! Love spending time with our family! We are truly blessed.

This Boy's Momma

This Mother's Day, I am feeling the weight of the enormous responsibility of raising our son to be an amazing Godly man(just like his Daddy). At the end of church yesterday, they showed a moving video about moms. Todd and I both teared up as it reminded us of the one Momma we both miss so dearly, Nana Barb. I am so grateful to her for raising an amazing son and wish almost daily that she were here to give me advice on raising Camden. He will be someone's husband and daddy someday... and my words and actions each day are shaping him into the man he will become. That is overwhelming to me! I pray that God will give me the wisdom, strength and grace to accomplish this incredible task and that I will lean on my Heavenly Father when I feel overwhelmed. I love you, Camden Joseph Carter Medley and am so blessed I was chosen to be your momma!

Birthday Pool Party

Sunday afternoon was rainy and nasty, but perfect for Amanda's indoor pool birthday party! We had pizza and cake, then playtime in the pool. It is hard to believe this sweet girl is 9 years old-I remember meeting her for the very first time. She is growing us so fast and I love the sweetheart she has become!
