What a deal!!
Would you believe I found a bridesmaid's dress for Beth's wedding at the Bridal Shoppe on clearance for $9.99?!?!?! I was stunned! Sis also found her dress and it was only $49.99. Plus, they were having a 25% off clearance items sale. As you can imagine, the thrifter in me was doing a serious happy dance!! My grand total was $8.41!! Both dresses also only need minor alterations. So, we now we will be on the hunt for cute shoes-silver for me and blue for her. Maybe we can find another deal, what do ya think? :)

Apple Picking Day
For several weeks now. we have been asked every day, "When is Apple Picking Day?" It's the annual field trip to Eckert's for Victory Children's Center. Well, wouldn't you know Little Man ran a fever this week and I was so worried that he wasn't going to be able to go. But he was fever free on Friday morning! So, off we went for a day of apple picking fun at Eckert's. It was a beautiful day with my two favorite boys!

Family Night at the Football Game
We may have a new tradition-bringing the family to Friday night football games. It was so fun having Mom, Dad and Sis with Camden and I at the game this past week, especially since it was an away game at Festus. Camden loved the extra entertainment. Mom and Dad really get into football and Hillsboro beat Festus 50-36!

You've Got Mail!
Ms. Ronda has this little mailbox in her classroom. Parents can write notes to their kids or the class and she reads them at circle time. Daddy wrote Camden a note and he was so excited to put it in the mailbox. I love the little things that make him happy and I also love that Ms. Ronda does small things like this that make learning fun. He's having a great time in Pre-K!

Abacodo
Facebook post from yesterday
Little Man was thrillled with the "abacado" seed he brought home from Ms. Ronda's lunch and insisted Daddy plant it before it got dark. We didn't even try telling a 4 1/2 year old that it has to be soaked in water, etc...nope, easier just to go out and do it. Love this little boy(and his Daddy who just goes with the flow)!

Whipser and Waps
One of the cutest things Camden says right now are these 2 words: whisper and wasp. He says whipser and waps. We catch ourselves having him repeat what he says so we can hear it again. I got these pictures the other night right after he got out of the bath and looked so cute sitting in his frog towel. I love this boy and am so glad God chose me to be his momma!

That's a winner, folks!
Todd is the head 8th grade football coach this year. Last night was their first game. Camden was a little sad because Grant wasn't there to play with him, but seeing Ms. Ronda made his evening! He had told me when I picked him up that Ms. Ronda would be at the game, but I wasn't sure he knew what he was talking about. Well, he did-her daughter is an 8th grade cheerleader.
I love watching Todd coach and am so very proud of him. I know him well enough to be able to read his body language from the stands. I can tell how is feeling from the way he stands and how he paces up and down the sideline. My favorite part of the game was seeing his excitement when they got a turnover and scored an unexpected touchdown. Hawks won 48-22!

Sunflowers
Todd and Camden harvested our sunflowers this weekend. We originally planted them to hide the mess in our neighbor's backyard. Camden was amazed at how tall they grew and he loved helping Daddy water them this summer. Somewhere I have a picture of the sunflowers right before they cut the tops off but seem to have misplaced it. I wanted to be able to compare pictures. I am sure it will appear someday. Todd cooked the seeds and says they are quite yummy. I, on the other hand, prefer to get mine from the store. But it was a fun summer project.

Hot Wheels Race
Todd had the great idea to take Camden to the Twin City Days Hot Wheels Race. We never have done much with Twin City Days except to avoid Main Street and the crowds, but, I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. This event was hosted and sponsored by Twin City Toyota and free food was provided by the Amvets. Each child got a free t-shirt(that might fit Little Man when he is 10) and a free hot wheels car. Admission to the race was a canned good donation. You got 2 tickets to race your cars and Camden's cars won both times, so he qualified for the next round. He was pretty excited, but then, lost interest when we had to stand in line again. But we had a fun morning and I think we will do this again next year.

Meet the Teacher
Camden and I visited Daddy at Hillsboro's Meet the Teacher night this week. They don't get many visitors at the high school level. Todd has one history class he is teaching this year and he assigned the students to make shields. He was so impressed with their work that he hung them out in the hall. His fellow teachers say he is trying to show them up, but I love that he is proud of his student's effort. So, of course, I took pictures. :)

Eggs and a hymn
You may ask yourself-what do eggs and a hymn have in common? Well, funny, you should ask. :)
Todd and I were making deviled eggs yesterday and Camden wanted to help. So, we sat him up on the counter and let him watch. He asked what do you called this part and pointed to the yellow. I told him that was the yolk. Well, as is known to happen in our household quite frequently, Todd burst into song: "Take my yolk upon you..." I started giggling and said it's yoke not yolk. Oh, that man makes me laugh! It's kind of a joke in our family that we burst into song alot. But it's those moments when I love our little life and the humor we find in the small things. It also makes me appreciate that Todd and I were raised in similar Christian homes and in church. But back to the story: I couldn't remember the hymn even though Todd sang almost the whole chorus. So, what did we do? Looked it up on you tube and listened to the song.

What a weekend!
I enjoyed this weekend so much. It was a weekend filled with friends, family, fun and food. We were actually quite busy, but yet, at the same time, it was very relaxing. Here's our weekend in review:
Friday night-Monkey Joe's and Orange Leaf w/ the Redd's
Saturday-football scrimmage and first VOLS football game at Bates'
Sunday-Little man stayed the night at Papa and Gamma's
Monday-BBQ for Abby's 30th birthday at the Joyce's
I love weekends when I feel refreshed and ready for a new week(the extra day off really helps)!
