A Hillsboro Hawk is blue!

I love hearing funny stories from Mrs. Huskey. Today, they were talking about things that were blue and Camden's answer was, A Hillsboro Hawk is blue." She told me she knew his Daddy would be proud! So, I took a picture of their chart to send to Daddy and he loved it.

1st day of Kindergarten

This little man was excited to start kindergarten! There were no tears, not even a glance back at momma. But I know he is in good hands! Mrs. Huskey is the best.

I saw him once during the day as he was heading to lunch and I got a big hug. The day was over before I knew it and he was walking back in my classroom door. We got to talk a little about his first day before we picked up Jaden. Their special class today was art and he told me his art teacher is from a different country. You know like Jaden, our brother? He's from Kansas City, a different country. And she can't roll her tongue.  Then, he told told Todd later-she had brought those dolls. You know, the ones from Little Einsteins that fit inside each other(nesting dolls).
He told me Mrs. Huskey read The Kissing Hand book like we have-not the new one though, the old one. He said all they did in gym was run around in a circle to music. Poor Mrs. Huskey has to have them at gym at 8:40 and school doesn't even start until 8:30. She said they were only 4 minutes late the first day. What a rockstar! I would have to say his first day was a success!

My team

I am so thankful for these girls on my 3rd grade team-they make this job that I love, but can sometimes stress me out bearable each and every day!

Surprising Papa

Today, Dad has worked at Fabick for 40 years! So, we surprised him with a little party. I am so proud of this man. He has taught my sister and I his incredible work ethic and I don't know a man more dedicated to his work. Even know that he is salary now, he still is very conscious about how long he takes for lunch. It cracks us up but that's just who he is. I can't believe he has worked for Fabick longer than I have been alive! I have memories of him coming home with grease on his hands when he was a mechanic, always seeing the big yellow Fabick truck he used to drive parked on the street beside our house on Tenbrook, attending the company picnics each year-Fabick has always been a part of our life. Congratulations, Dad!

#ParentFailure

So, Camden had his dental check-up a few weeks ago and much to my dismay, he had 4 small cavities. I know it is silly, but I felt like the biggest failure as a parent. Did I let him have too much juice? Is he not brushing good enough? Should I not let him have fruit snacks? After catching my runaway thoughts, I realized we are doing everything right-he may just have teeth prone to cavities.
Now, there was a bit of apprehension on returning to the dentist to get the said cavities filled. Camden doesn't really enjoy the dentist in the first place. But I was pleasantly surprised. We had two visits and he was a little quiet after the first one. He didn't care for the numb feeling. And he was a little teary when I had to leave him for the second visit, but he came out happy as can be.  A pediatric dentist has been awesome for this kiddo. Now, let's hope we can prevent more cavities with a little extra diligence.
Yep, that's how we feel about the dentist around here....

8 Months

You got your first 2 teeth this month! You had some really nasty diapers and were gnawing on everything!
You are on the verge of crawling-you will be any day now. You do this funny thing where you almost look like you are doing a pushup. You still are getting up on all fours and lunging to get where you want to go.
We tried some 3rd foods this month, but you didn't really care for the chunks in there. You still gagged, so we are sticking with 2nd  foods. We did give you a mashed up banana and you LOVED it!
You like to play peekaboo and you love when Camden rubs his head on your belly. You are so very ticklish too. Dady gets the best belly laughs. Speaking of Daddy, you can be as crabby as can be and then Daddy gets home and you are suddenly a happy camper. You sure love your Daddy!
