Green Thumb

I wish I had inherited my Dad's green thumb. I would love to show a comparison of my petunias to his, but I would embarass myself!

I love looking at his flowers each summer and they are so beautiful! But I also know that he puts much time and effort into watering them EVERY day to keep them looking great! I think it annoys him that Beth and I can't get the hang of it. He tells us, "You HAVE to water them EVERY day, girls." And each time he comes over, it is a given, Dad will stick his finger in our pots and say "Yep, need to be watered." Ha! We've just come to expect it.

I love you, Dad and you are my flower growing hero!

Family Reunion

This Saturday was the annual Medley Family Reunion. The weather was sooo much nicer than it has been every other year. It was beautiful, so much so, we stayed longer than normal. Well, that and the fact that Camden is more easily entertained these days. We don't get to see Todd's side of the family much, so it was great to catch-up with them and enjoy everyone's home cooking! Camden had some mostaccioli-and told us "It's delicious!"

Aunt Mary and Uncle Bill

Aunt Jesse and Uncle Melvin

Todd was asked to pray by his Aunt Mary. This was a big honor since his dad, Wayne used to pray at every family reunion. We all get in a circle and hold hands and I was so proud of Todd standing next to him. I know his dad (and mom) would have been too!

A New School Year

Yikes! Where did the summer go? I have thoroughly enjoyed being off, especially spending time with my boys, but I always get excited for a new school year! I love redecorating my classroom, seeing all the school supplies at the stores and getting ready to try all the new ideas I found on Pinterest and teacher blogs. Here is my 3rd grade room at Pevely Elementary for this year:

Todd also starts a new year at a new place. He is a Hillsboro Hawk! He will be teaching special education, co-teaching in Science and Social Studies at Hillsboro High. He would be mortified if I came and took pictures of his room, so this is the best I could do. HA!

Camden will be in Ms. Sue's class at Victory Childrens' Center this year and he is very excited about her room. He tells me there are Legos and monster trucks in there! I know he will have another amazing year at Victory and learn so many new things.

A God Moment

I posted this on Facebook earlier and kinda shocked myself. Anyone who knows me will tell you I am a Christian and I am not ashamed of it, but instead very proud of my faith. But I am not one to really overtly share my faith. So, when this happened and I wanted to share it in such a public way-that's a big step for me. I think God wants me to be more vocal about my faith.
"Wow. Just had an amazing experience-a total God moment. Last night I had been thinking of a coworker who lost her mom a few days ago. I remembered how when Todd lost his mom someone he knew walked up and handed him some money. They told him God had laid it on their heart to give it to us. Those people could never know how much that meant to Todd and I-both the money and the gesture. We decided the...n that we would do the same someday. Well that moment came today. The husband of my coworker was at the same place I was getting gas. I was able to do repay the act of generosity and kindness. And the way it all fell into place-me actually having cash, going to that particular gas station, etc just reminds me that we serve an incredible God!!! He is so good!"

Bad flashlight

Well, Daddy has always said playing with the MagLite flashlight was not a good idea, but it has always been a favorite of Camden's. Not so much after last night. Camden dropped the flashlight on his toe on the kitchen tile floor. It was a very bloody, traumatic mess! It would not stop bleeding. We spent the eveing holding you and propping it up. I am sure it hurt very bad and you even were limping as you went to bed. Poor guy! You told me "That is a bad flashlight!" as I was putting you to bed.

It does look a little better today, but is pretty bruised. When Gramma asked you which toe it was that you hurt, you said, "The black one!" Ha!

The Muny

The summer wouldn't be complete without a trip to The Muny with Mom.
This was the best picture we could get-our arms are too short!
Sis wasn't using her season ticket and her friend wasn't going either, so Mom and I got to go last night for free. The weather was beautiful, especially after the sun went down. We saw The King and I and it was amazing. There is just something I love about musicals!

Family Time

Most Sunday summer evenings will find us at Mom and Dad's house for barbeque. Tonight was no exception although we were missing two cousins. :( Camden was lonely without Nick and Emmy. But Aunt Bef's new friend, Patrick and Papa made up for his loneliness. Dad even let Camden help fill the bird feeders.
We enjoyed sitting on the deck and talking after dinner as Camden manuevered his tricycle around us and entertained us being silly.
And baths are so much more fun at Gamma's house, so I make sure to bring his pj's!
I have to include this picture because as always, Dad brought out his faithful fan which Mom says is older than Beth! And it still works! It may not be pretty to look at, but it keeps the mosquitoes away and keeps a breeze blowing.
So thankful for family time!
